The fourth part of our 2009 trip was spent touring the area around Cairns including
the picturesque village of Kuranda in the mountains above Cairns.
While in Cairns, we stayed in a one bedroom apartment at The Lakes Resort & Spa. The grounds and facilities were excellent. There were 3 pools on the site, one of which included a sand beach. While Cairns itself is a very nice city, it is "just a city" so we didn't spend too much time there. Instead, we drove around the countryside and visited the picturesque village of Kuranda. The trip to Kuranda on the SkyRail (a gondola) and back on the Scenic Railway were the highlight of this portion of the trip. Share our experience in the following pictures: |
