Heron Island Photo Gallery
 


Heron Island was the first stop on our 2009 trip. Heron Island is a true coral cay located towards the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef as shown on the map to the right.

It is world famous for its fantastic scuba diving and snorkelling. However, during our stay, it was quite windy and the water visibility was considerably reduced. Nonetheless, I had numerous good dives and Nancy and I had a couple of "interesting" snorkels.

Heron is renowned for its abundance of birdlife with dense Pisonia forests which are home to thousands of Noddy Terns and Shearwater Mutton Birds.

Above all else, the nature and tranquility were an incredible experience. Share our experience in the following pictures:
